All about barbecue cooking

Barbecue, basically, means grilling of meat over charcoal or wood. The meat that is being grilled can differ from pork, beef, lamb, goat or chicken. There are various techniques and sauces available for cooking the meat in the barbeque, it differs from person to person and every individual can cook accordingly as per his or her taste. The meat is cooked very slowly in the temperature of 175 degree Fahrenheit to 300 degree Fahrenheit; the meat is cooked with the heat of the smoke and not the fire.

Features of Barbecue cooking


Barbecue cooking is a bit different than that of normal cooking. This cannot be done like the normal cooking that is done in our kitchen. The features of the same are as follows: -

1.    BBQ cooking is most of the time done by men because it involves activities like cutting of wood, taking care of fire and most importantly, it is done in outdoors.

2.    The major purpose of this cooking is to cook fast without involvement of much normal kitchen activities. As the major purpose of this cooking is simpler and faster cooking, many restaurants today are replacing the typical barbeque of charcoal and wood with steel rods and direct fire.

3.    This kind of cooking may seem to be very quick but certain equipments like grills and smokers are required to make this cooking simple. Otherwise it can very difficult to complete the cooking deliciously.

Safe BBQ Cooking

Cooking BBQ can be one of the risky things if it is not handled properly. Certain things need to be taken care of. If proper care is not taken then there is a possibility that the meat may get overcooked or there is even a possibility that it doesn’t get cooked properly. Another risk associated with this kind of cooking is that the germs from uncooked meat falls on the cooked food thus, harming the health of the person who will be consuming it. Few tips for safe BBQ cooking are as follows: -

1.    The meat should be turned around at regular intervals so that the meat is cooked properly throughout.

2.    The coals should be glowing red and particles of grey should be blowing from it, this means the barbeque is hot enough.

3.    Before touching the cooked food and after touching the raw meat, the person who is cooking should wash his or her hands and this will avoid infection.

Barbeques can be a fun way of cooking if handled properly; if it is not handled properly then it can very risky thus, leading to health concerns. Barbeques have also become a very important part of parties and party seems to be incomplete without BBQ food.
